Happy 20th birthday to me…
I’m celebrating two full decades of chaos.
I must say, though, that for the one great thing that happened today (my Xbox 360 came via UPS, bright and early around 10:00 am, and I’ve been playing it ever since), a few shitty things happened to put me in more-or-less bad spirits.
First I woke up sick. We’re talking cough, congestion in my head and chest, swollen glands… the whole 9 yards. After being wished happy birthday, I heard some great news from my dad about an impending ice storm this evening. I had plans to go out to dinner at Melting Pot with a few of my friends; but considering that I was sick, an ice storm was coming, and my one friend wasn’t feeling well either, I suggested canceling for tonight and rescheduling for tomorrow or another day this week. I still don’t know if we are rescheduling or not…
I played Grand Theft Auto 4, showered and, feeling slightly better, I considered inviting people over, but never got around to inviting more than one person. I went out to rent a few games (Midnight Club: L.A. and Soul Calibur 4) and a movie (Heat, the three hour long drama featuring the “dynamic duo” that is Robert DiNiro and Al Pacino), and I tried to find a memory card with no luck; they were sold out at the four stores I called and the two I visited.
All day I was waiting for this damn ice storm to roll around. It wasn’t until after 5:30 pm that I finally looked outside to see a baby ice storm that has probably since grown into a larger ice storm, but I haven’t looked outside again. I didn’t even bother to invite more people over because I don’t think anyone should be driving in potentially bad weather; it’s not worth it.
So in conclusion… I’ve had better days.

Oh, no! I’m sorry you had such a terrible birthday, Anna. I’ve been sick on Christmas twice before, which sucks because it’s one of two days a year when I’m required to visit with family for most of the day. I would normally wish you a happy day, but I can tell that’s ineffective at this point. Instead, I will send along my hopes that tomorrow will be a thousand times better. Even if 20 was underwhelming, I imagine 21 will be a significant improvement.
