Four Foods on Friday #79
#1, Kelly’s question. What is your favorite memory associated with the smell of a certain food? As in, you smell it, close your eyes and are instantly drawn back to a magical moment in time…
Roast beef always reminds me of my grandpa. He made epic roast beef; seasoned so simply, but it tasted amazing. I have always said that if he were to be reincarnated somehow and made roast beef again, I would eat it- vegetarianism aside, lol.
#2. Name something red that is in your cabinets.
Tabasco Sweet and Spicy Pepper Sauce. As I soon found out shortly after opening it, it shouldn’t be refrigerated; it makes the sauce way too thick and unpourable.
#3. Ice. Do you have an ice maker, use ice cube trays or buy by the bag?
Our ice maker broke twice and our ice cube trays are lost in boxes in our garage from moving over two years ago, so we have been buying bags of ice.
#4. Pepper. What kind do you use most often? Is it in a grinder or a shaker?
I have a coarsely ground pepper and kosher salt blend sitting in a little container on our stove for cooking. For daily use, we have a few pepper shakers with regular black pepper, already ground, in the cabinet and one of those McCormick pepper grinders. We used to use the copper salt and pepper mills that I purchased a few years ago, but I think the pepper mill might have broken from using it too much over the years – not sure.
