Four Foods on Friday #81
#1. Clair’s question. What’s the biggest kitchen blunder you’ve made?
Recently, my friend and I were making blueberry cream cheese coffee cake. We made one cake and were puzzled when it didn’t seem to be rising or cooking sufficiently, but it still tasted good when it came out of the oven and cooled. A few hours later, we made another cake. When my friend took the carton of eggs out of the refrigerator, the light bulb lit up in my head and I realized that the other cake probably turned out the way it did because it didn’t have any eggs in it. I forgot to put them in with the wet ingredients that I was in charge of mixing up. Oops.
I used to make fun of my ex for the time he forgot to put eggs in the pumpkin pie we slaved to make for what seemed like an eternity (we hacked apart, boiled, seasoned, and pureed the huge pumpkin that was at one point sitting on my front door step to make the pies… that’s how hardcore we were), but I guess I can’t do that anymore. Now I have my own “forgot the eggs” story.
#2. What’s your favorite snow day beverage?
Peppermint hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Yum.
#3. What’s your favorite way to eat celery?
It has to be cooked in something, or “hidden” in something if it’s raw (i.e. potato salad.)
#4. What’s the most most unappealing looking food you can think of?
Ugli Ripe tomatoes always remind me of post-apocalyptic, mutated tomatoes which look that way as a result of excessive radiation… but they’re not, and they taste good.

Speaking of pumpkins, I’ve never made anything with pumpkin but I have one sitting in my fridge right now that I don’t quite know what to do with.

Somehow it seems whenever I *tease* someone about a goof it comes back to bite me in the butt even if it was good spirited.
