Four Foods on Friday #60
#1. What’s your favorite crunchy food?
Salad, but I’m not much of an Iceberg fan; it has to be good-tasting salad, kinda like the one I made not that long ago with goat cheese, sliced pears, dried cranberries, and balsamic vinaigrette over mixed greens. Yum.
#2. How often do you try new recipes?
It depends on when I have time. This past week, I tried four new recipes: peppermint cheesecake swirl brownies (turned out bad because I over swirled the cream cheese and they also should have been baked in a different pan), oatmeal cookies with Heath bar chips (amazing), fancy decorated sugar cookies (stars and snowflakes decorated with pretty white, blue, and purple sugar glaze, coloured sugars, nonpareils, and blue glitter gel), and coconut cupcakes (so delicious; search for the recipe from The Neely’s on the Food TV Network website.)
#3. Name a food that you almost always have in the house.
Various kinds of Campbells soup.
#4. What kind of food do you leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve?
When I was a kid I used to leave out cookies and milk for Santa, and carrots for the reindeer… Of course, I now know that my dad would eat the cookies and drink the milk, and my dog would munch on the carrots.

Check out the current issue of Cooking Light for the oatmeal cookie recipe. If I can find where I put the magazine, I’ll post the recipe myself.
I’m glad I picked up that issue, though, because it had an amazing picture of chocolate fudge cakes on the cover (which looks anything but “light”!) and a great feature on holiday baking (that’s where the oatmeal cookie recipe was listed.)

You go all out with your salads! I like nice crisp iceberg lettuce with ranch dressing. Yum.
