FINALLY!!!!

I purchased something last night that I’ve wanted for a while – about three years, to be exact…

Xbox

Refurbished XBOX 360 Premium Console (Chrome Disc Drive) with 2 Wireless Controllers, XBOX Live Arcade Compilation Disc, Power Supply with Power Cord, and Composite AV Cable. 90 Day Warranty. NO hard drive or manual.

The Xbox 360 Arcade, which is the version without a hard drive, is around $199 brand-new and comes packaged with one wired controller. For $142.50 (no tax and free shipping), two wireless controllers are coming packaged with my refurbished system. Aside from a hard drive, the wireless controllers were the essential accessories I was looking for; they are sold for $50 each separately, so to get two with the system is pretty sweet. I can pick up a refurbished 20gb HD on eBay for around $30-50, or I know a friend who might have one he could sell me. Halo 3 is another must, and Xbox Live, and then I will be set for the time being.

I’m so excited about the additional purchases that I am going to make for my new “baby”, but at the same time I’m nervous. I hope everything works properly, considering that the products are refurbished and I’ve heard that 360s can be more than a little temperamental. I’m scared of the unhappy once-green-now-blinking-red lights on the front of the console signaling “a massive hardware failure,” also known as the dreaded RROD or “Red Ring of Death.” I plan on purchasing an extended 3rd party warranty from SquareTrade as soon as I receive the system, which is being shipped via UPS and should arrive within the next week.

I love having wireless controllers! A definite plus not having to deal with all those wires, especially when playing action packed games. We are now looking for rechargeable batteries and a charging station for our Wii controllers.
