Four Foods On Friday #98

1. How many cookbooks do you have? (1-10, 11-20, 20+)
Oh man, probably more than 20. (Speaking of, I’ve been looking for my Bon Appetit cookbook – the newer one with the orange cover, I think it’s a 25th anniversary edition or something – but I can’t find it. :frown: I think it’s in a box somewhere from when we moved, and I never unpacked it.)

2. Where do you keep your large utensils (such as slotted spoons, spatulas, etc)?
In drawers. I had my drawers neatly organized and arranged, but they are in complete chaos right now.

3. What is your countertop made of?
Not sure. Formica, I think.

4. Do you use canisters in your kitchen?
I have big Tupperware tubs for things like flour, sugar, etc. but I’d love to buy some nicer-looking ceramic or acrylic plastic canisters with hinges one of these days.

1. Name something you like with pumpkin in it.
Pumpkin is amazing in so many things. Pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin bisque, pumpkin rolls (pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting, rolled up like a jelly roll)… yum. :yummy:

2. Name an orange food you like.
Sweet potatoes. I love eating them baked and topped with butter, brown sugar, salt and pepper.

3. What’s your favorite color/flavor of licorice?
Twizzler has all sorts of different “rainbow” flavours now that are pretty yummy, but I am still fond of the regular cherry variety.

4. What’s your favorite hot beverage at Halloween?
Coffee, but then again that’s something I drink year-round. I can’t say that there is a “seasonal” beverage I drink during Halloween.

Friday Fill-Ins #137

1. When will I reach my goals?

2. The United States of Arugula was the last good book I read, Julie & Julia was the last movie I saw, and Essence of Emeril was the last TV show I watched.

3. Everything has its beauty but “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

4. Pizza and salad is what I had for dinner last night. :yummy:

5. I’d like your feedback.

6. On a tropical island is where I want to be right now… but I’m not. :sad:

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to doing something fun (I hope), tomorrow my plans include maybe having a Dexter marathon (two more episodes to go until I’m done with season one, then I have to catch up on season two, then season three… :shock: ), and Sunday I want to go on a picnic!

1. What’s your favorite flavor of Italian Ice?
Cherry is a classic, but I also like mango.

2. Watermelon. So you prefer seeded or seedless?
Seedless. It’s just easier to eat that way.

3. Ice cream. Do you prefer soft serve or hard?
Soft serve is good, but there are generally more hard flavour options.

4. Ice pops. What kind is your favorite?
I always loved strawberry shortcake and chocolate eclair Good Humor ice cream bars.

#1. TheSaladCaper’s question. Give me one weird food combination which has always been your comfort food.
A weird food combination? I don’t know about weird, but any kind of homemade baked goods are like comfort food for me. I guess it’s how good the house smells when something is baking in the oven, like a fruit pie or cookies.

#2. Name a food that begins with B.
Bananas.

#3. Name a drink that begins with B.
Bourbon.

#4. Share a recipe for something that calls for broccoli.
We always make this pasta recipe with sliced black olives, broccoli, and angel hair in a garlic and oil sauce.
