Review: Own The Night

As always, I will try my best to speak in general terms about the movie, but there might be some accidental spoilers, so please read with caution. I saw Own The Night this past Friday after work. I gave a brief synopsis of it before, but here is the general idea of it again: In the movie there are three men - two brothers, Bobby and Joseph, and their father - who are caught in a conflict with one another. Bobby is a club manager at a popular night club while his brother Joseph and his father ... Continue Reading

New movies: Sweeny Todd, Own the Night

I just watched the trailer for Sweeny Todd and it looks like it is going to be awesome. Admittedly, I have never seen the play version, but have heard good things about it. The movie is directed by Tim Burton, with Johnny Depp and Helene Boman Carter starring. I think they have amazing on-screen chemistry with one another, so it should be a good movie; it comes out around Christmas. In other news, Own the Night comes out tomorrow! I saw the previews for that a few times in the theaters and ... Continue Reading

New movie preview: Across the Universe, RE3, Saw IV

I saw that the new Beatles-inspired movie, Across the Universe, already came out or is coming out this weekend. I saw the trailers for it a while back and it didn't do anything for me. While I like the Beatles a lot and essentially grew up listening to them, I don't think I am going to be checking this movie out. Here are a few of my reasons. 1. I am not ... Continue Reading

Review: The Hills Have Eyes 2

Last night while my parents and I were watching TV, my dad accidentally clicked the button on the changer to order The Hills Have Eyes 2. I wanted to see this movie, but I had not yet seen the first one and neither had my parents. It was not that difficult to follow even though none of us had seen the first one, though, being a silly horror movie... The film opened up with a woman giving birth to a still-born child and a mutated man helping -- and I use that term loosely -- her deliver. Exactly ... Continue Reading

Review: Disturbia

As always, I will try my best to speak in general terms about the movie, but there might be some accidental spoilers, so please read with caution. On Friday night, Josh and I watched Disturbia. The concept seemed cool -- a potential serial killer living next-door to this kid, who was under house-arrest for three months and spying on his neighbors to pass the time -- but I was a little reluctant to continue watching the movie after the first ten minutes... and not because it was scary (it took ...
