Casual Fall Entertaining

My aunt stopped by last weekend to drop off this gorgeous wreath that she made for our front door. The fall wreath that we bought at Michaels a few years ago -- maybe even going back to the time that I worked there in high school -- needed a refresh, so she promised my mom that she would make us a new one. Today is the big game and, unlike basically all of my fellow Americans, I am admittedly not a huge American football fan. Recipe: Chocolate Almond Toffee

A few weeks ago, I bought toffee at Wegmans to satisfy my craving for sweet, chocolately goodness. Not much beats perfectly square gems of toffee, covered in chocolate and almonds, with a satisfying crunch and buttery flavor. Finally, though, I decided to make my own. Recipe: Bananas Fosters

I was dying to make this for the longest time and I finally got around to it tonight. It came out so good!! "2 oz" of rum is merely a guideline, as most of the alcohol cooks off, so feel free to be generous. As long as you can refrain from pouring the whole bottle in there, you should be fine. I used white rum because it is what I had on-hand, but try using dark rum, or equal parts rum and banana liquor, for extra flavor.
